Hello from Amsterdam

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Currently, I am in Amsterdam. I must say that this city is quite interesting. Prostitution is legal here. I know. Last night, my friends and I went to the Red Light District. I was not able to take a picture with a female in it because we need to respect them. I must say that these women are really good looking and they have a good body.
This is a section of the red light district in Amsterdam. It's literally down the street where I am currently staying at. Women stand right in front of the windows and wait for their clients to come. According to my tour guide, on average, a prostitutes makes about 50 euros in 15 minutes. However, because it is legalized, they are taxed a lot by the government. On the bright side, prostitution is considered a job so they are able to get health insurance.

Today, we went on a few tourist attractions. We took a free walking tour around the city for 3 hours, visited a tulip museum (student discount helps), explored Vincent Von gogh museum, experienced the house of Anne Frank's hide out house, and a canal tour at night.

Here are some pictures throughout my time in Amsterdam:
Dutch bakery

Dutch breakfast

Palace of Dam, a king used to live here but he wasn't able to last too long.

One of the canals in Amsterdam. Their main transportation is biking.

Tulip are the main official tulips in Amsterdam. These seeds are from the Tulip museum.

Anne Frank's hide out house is now a museum. I recommend those who go to Amsterdam in the future should visit this museum. You learn so much history from a little girl.

Here is one of Vincent Van Gogh's painting. During his time, people did not like his paintings. In fact, in his life time, he only sold one painting. However, artists now find his painting amazing. I think his paintings are still master pieces. By the way, I wasn't able to take pictures but I quickly took two shoots before getting caught. Hehe

Yes, the good french fries. But in Amsterdam, they just call them fries. In most popular tourist attractions, there are so many fries restaurants. I love how the fries were so crispy and you get to add a topping. Here I have mayo.

A traditional Dutch pancake. It may seem plain, but it's really good. I'll might try this at home when I get back.

Hodge Pot. Mashed potatoes and mashed carrots with gravy and a sausage on top. It's really yummy.

Okay, that's all for today.

Paris is next.

Southern California food update #1

Good afternoon everyone!

Recently I mentioned that I would be in Southern California before I go to Europe. If you do not know, Southern California is known for their weather and food. It is hot here. And Oh my goodness, I love to try new food. Who does not?

A few days ago, I went to Bonfish Grill, located in Northridge, CA.

This is called the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos. I think this restaurant has an Asian influence in their dishes, bit I'm not too sure. I really like to eat this. My first time trying them. It has a crunchy, peanut better, creamy, and sweet taste to the fried shrimp. I highly recommend people around the area to try it out. There are also different types of other seafood available and steak (rib eye). 3/5 stars on yelp. Also, I like to mention that they have a super friendly service. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and they love to joke and talk to their customers. Free dessert on your birthday!

Today, I went to the Americana Mall in Glendale, CA, to try Din Tai Fung

Stir-fry long green beans with garlic! So good. It's a little crunchy and the garlic taste makes eating my greens a lot easier.

Din Tai Fung is known for their soup dumplings. This one here is called the juicy pork dumpling xiaolongbao (小笼包子). My friends and I also got juicy pork and carb soup dumplings and shrimp and pork dumplings (not shown in the picture). To be honest, I thought the dumplings were okay. I had high expectations because I have had soup dumplings in Shanghai and they were delicious and juicy. The yelp rankings were 3.5/5 stars. And yes, the service was really fast. The food came out in 5 minutes tops. Nice waiters and waitresses too. I have heard the wait could take a long time but going in on a Thursday morning at 11am, no wait :)

Afterwards, we walked around the mall and encountered Sprinkles cupcakes :)

I got the red velvet cupcake ice cream! So good, I got sugar high afterwards but worth it!

I did not buy any macaroons but who would not take a picture. They are so cute :)

That's all for today.
Remember, always be yourself

Exciting News!

Hello everyone!

Suz here! Well, I have exciting news! I will be out of the country starting next week. Please join me as I update my blog as often as possible (it will get a little hectic from all the places that I will be going). I will be going to Europe and Africa (my first time). But first, my journey starts in Los Angeles. Why there? I am visiting some of my really close friends there first.

I'm really excited to explore the cultures in Europe and yes, FOOD! I love trying new food.  Umm.. maybe some wine tasting too? Not too sure yet but I know I am going to have a great time.
